Building and growing a business is a great game to play but to win this game you need to have some skills. Knowing how to market your business is one of them.

Marketing online – if it is done right – can have a great impact on your business growth …so let’s talk a little bit about it.

There are many ways to market your business online but if you don’t have a team to help you out, pick two to four ways  that work for you and do them over and over. Here are some examples that you can start implementing in your marketing.

SEO (Search Engine Optimization)

To have customers find your site when they search something on Google is a great way to get your business going. . But that is easier  said than done, right?

SEO is a big subject and there are many things to learn if you want to do it yourself. However,   if you have some money to invest, there are many companies out there that can do this job for your business.

If you want to do it yourself, you can start by thinking of what your ideal clients would type in Google to find a product/ service like yours. When you have some ideas, you can start using the Google keyword tool which is a great and free tool that Google has for us. Type your ideas in there and see what comes up.

Pick three-four or longer phrases and use them in your future blog posts. Do this with every blog post that you create and you will see that in two to four months’ time that your traffic is much higher than before you did that.

Having your own blog 

I noticed that there are businesses that don’t seem to know how important it is to have a blog. Writing a blog post every week is a great way to increase your traffic to your site especially when you use targeted keywords in your articles.

If you love to write, you will looove doing this. But even if you don’t like writing, you can talk and record your voice. Find someone to transcribe your recording and you have your article.

There are many people out there who can transcribe your recording.

Probably the most important thing is not to hesitate doing this. Many business owners falter very often saying that they don’t know what to write about.  Everyone is a specialist in something and the simple fact that you are running a business is a proof that you have something to offer and that you know your field. You can write about that.

Facebook Ads

A Facebook ad is a great tool that you can use to market your business online. When you use this tool, it is very important to know your target market extremely well to narrow it down.

A good practice is to create three different ads with the same offer and see which one is the most effective and keep that one. You don’t want to waste your money on the other ads that do not bring results.

Create your own newsletter 

Creating your own newsletter is one of the best ways to build your community and drive traffic to your site.  It requires some work to create it (you can use a team to build it) but it is very effective because with it you build your list at the same time. Think about what your clients want to hear and give them that. Make sure to deliver top notch content and not a sales pitch.

Don’t forget about social media

Using sites like Facebook is a clever move for your business. Businesses have started using more and more social media to drive traffic to their sites. But using social media is a lot of work and you need time to do it.

If your budget allows you, a great way to do this is to hire someone who knows how to do it professionally and knows how to build communities online. But if you don’t have the money, you can start doing it yourself. The first step is to create a Facebook business page and learn how to use it. (more about this on Fb Evolve )  After that have a look at a twitter profile and get comfortable with it and the last thing that you can do is to have a LinkedIn account and join some groups.

These are five ways to market your business online. As I said in the beginning, you don’t need to use all of them at once; pick one of them and make it work for you. After that, go to the next one and so on.
