The Profit Multiplier Call

May 10, 2013

Someone knocks at my door in a determined manner. As I am heading to the door to see who it is I am already kinda pissed off because of the noise. So I open the door and guess what: there he is… A salesperson trying to sell me bed sheets.

I’m thinking to myself, “What? I don’t need this… give me a break!! Who told you I need your bed sheets?”

Anyway… I find my inner peace and succeed in being polite with the guy. I tell him I don’t need his product and wish him a great day. I close the door and want to go back to my previous activity.

But, as you might expect, the guy insists. He knocks at my door again. Silly me, I open again. To my surprise, he starts uttering the EXACT SAME STORY that he told me the first time. His sales pitch did not change a bit!

In my amazement I find the words to tell him to stop. “Look”, I say, “please understand that I don’t NEED bed sheets. Please stop knocking at my door. I know what I need better than you do…”

As I was heading back to my desk (this time for real), it struck me:

This is a typical example of not knowing what the hell your client needs. This guy didn’t do his homework at all. He didn’t do any research, didn’t have the slightest idea of what I really want, and simply assumed that I will be willing to pay for what he was offering.

Just like that. “Here, take my money and give me whatever you want to give me. Yes, I am giving you my hard earned money without thinking that I might not like or need any of your products”. This was his ideal customer: no one. / nobody

It’s such a BAD way to make sales (if by applying this method you do get sales!)… isn’t it? Wouldn’t it be much more easier to do your homework and see who needs your product? You could then go laser-sharp to the place where those people are and talk to them about how you or your product can give a helping hand.

Ding… ding… ding… ding… rings a bell?

Let’s see what you need to do in order to:

  • Not lose tons of time chasing the wrong persons
  • Avoid harassing your potential buyers (and to avoid getting angry at them for not buying from you)
  • Obtain BETTER and FASTER results in your business
  • Have fun and enjoy what you are doing (why not? after all, the results will show up faster)

So here are some things to think about as someone who has a business and is determined to close plenty of deals asap:

1. KNOW YOUR CLIENT’S FEARS BY HEART

When it comes to marketing your product, you need to keep in mind that having a crystal clear image about your buyer is THE most important aspect of the whole marketing process.

Imagine you have a product that helps people increase their business’ income. You see, knowing that you want to market to all business owners is NOT ENOUGH in order to get excellent results. If you don’t have crystal clarity about your perfect client, you will start marketing your product to every business owner you know and come across.

You need to go deeper, way deeper. You need to know your client’s fears, problems, and desires and create your marketing message based on that.

Imagine clients are letters from A-Z. Your ideal customers are only the vowels A, E and I. So if you talk to B, C, D, or even O and U you are not doing a great job, are you?

2. “BREATHE” YOUR PRODUCT!

You might say I’m going overboard here, but I really am not. You need to know, live and breathe the solution you are offering to your client. Know the deepest, the most secret fear that your ideal client has. What’s the thing that represents such a big problem for them that they can’t sleep at night? You have to know this in order to create stunning marketing.

Bonus tip: Write all these things down on a sheet of paper. There is a special power in writing things down. It can really help you see everything from a new perspective. I always experience such strong and deep clarity when I do this. Try it now!

Yep, you need to believe, love and 100% adore the product you have. It’s your baby, your creation, and therefore your attitude towards it matters most of all. It’s almost like you are breathing through your product.

Do everything in your power to share and communicate the love that you have for your product through your copy, video, or audio materials. We, people, feel, smell, spot (call it whatever you want) whatever lies beyond appearances.

Trust me, once you have followed these two simple rules, your marketing campaign will improve significantly.

Now, having said that, it’s time to move on to the 3 strategies (that work!) to help you start marketing your product right away:

  • Facebook Ads. Oh boy, they do work! To read more about Facebook Ads, go here.
  • Guest blogging. The kind of guest everybody wants to be. Check out more about this topic here.
  • Create a funny video and amazing copy which can go viral. Here is one of my favourites:

Whilst I admit there are many other techniques which can bring you good results, the ones I have just mentioned above are a good place to start.

Ta-daaaa! Now it’s time to hear your opinion!

Do you already have a product that you are trying to market online but you didn’t get any results? What do you think are the things that you are doing wrong? Do you have some marketing ideas but are not sure if they could work?

Did you write down a detailed file of your perfect client or do you just keep it in only your head thinking that’s more than enough?

Be open and share the things that are going on in your world in the comments section.

Allow me to express my gratitude and my appreciation in advance for your contribution… I’m looking forward to hearing from you!

Blessings,

Florentina
